Professional Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (Residency) in Veterinary Dermatology

Applications are invited from veterinary graduates for a Professional Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (Residency) in Veterinary Dermatology, based within the Hospital for Small Animals at the Easter Bush campus.

You will train towards the Diploma of the European College of Veterinary Dermatology. The Dermatology Service is registered for training by the ECVD, and has a very successful programme with previous residents achieving two PhDs and twelve diplomas. The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies offers world-class clinical, teaching and research facilities at the Easter Bush Campus. Edinburgh is consistently ranked as one of the world’s most desirable cities to live in.

At least two year’s general practice or one year internship experience is required. Clinical experience in dermatology would be preferred but is not essential. You must be, or be eligible to become, a member of the RCVS.

The scholarship will commence in March 2021 and will run for a four-year fixed-term, renewable annually subject to completion of required DVetMed components.

The residency attracts an annual tax-free stipend of £20,018.03 with a supplement payable for on-call duties and an additional allowance of £600 per annum available for approved travel, examination fees and CPD. Postgraduate fees will be paid by the University of Edinburgh at UK level.

Informal enquiries are encouraged and should be directed to Dr Debbie Gow (email: debbie.gow@ed.ac.uk).
