Biography

My name is Viktorija Lokianskiene. I am 33-years-old and practice small animal veterinary medicine with a strong interest in dermatology in Jonava, Lithuania

After completing my University studies, I completed a residency program in surgery at the Veterinary University in Kaunas, Lithuania. After leaving the university, I practiced from 2009 to 2012 as a small animal veterinarian in a large small animal practice in Kaunas, Lithuania under the training of an experienced veterinarian, Dr. Mintautas Sakavičius. There, my duties involved all aspects of small animal general practice including medicine, surgery and dermatology. In 2012, I decided to create my own general practice and I I now employ 10 veterinarians, and supervise the clinical activities of two senior veterinary students. Since 2013, and to ensure a high level of medicine, I am participating in an electronic –case review and on-site consulting with Dr. Kamil Tomsa, DECVIM-CA.

Since opening my practice, I have discovered my passion for dermatology and I have invested much time and money in my own continuing education in this field, by participating at international congresses, attending Dr. Belova’s School of Veterinary Dermatology in Tartu, Estonia and, now, the dermatology coursework of the European School of Veterinary Advanced Studies (ESAVS) in Vienna, Austria. I also did externships with specialists (for more details, please see my CV).

I was recently offered to participate in an Alternative Residency with the programme director being Dr. Kerstin Bergvall and co-mentors being Drs. Petra Bizikova, Cecilia Friberg, Marcy Murphy and Thierry Olivry, all diplomates of the ECVD and/or ACVD. Details of this programme will be provided by my mentors. The clinical training will take place at three institutions: the Djurakuten veterinary clinic in Stockholm, Sweden, the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Uppsala, Sweden and NC State University in Raleigh, NC. At this time, we envision 2/3 of the clinical training to be in Sweden, and 1/3 in the USA.

I am excited about this opportunity to further my training under these experienced mentors.

Please, let me know if you need me to provide any additional information.

Best regards,
Viktorija Lokianskiene
